Building an Iconic Christmas Tree in a Live Environment.
The Brisbane King George Square Christmas Tree has been a cherished holiday tradition and a historic landmark for Queensland since the 1950s. Box & Co was entrusted by Brisbane City Council as the construction group behind this iconic project for the last five years, since 2019. Standing at 22 metres tall, it proudly holds the title as one of the largest solar-powered Christmas trees in the Southern Hemisphere.
Every stage of the installation—from securing the structural frame to placing the final star—is planned with precision, transforming King George Square while ensuring minimal disruption to the bustling city.
Quick facts:
- Stands 22 metres tall and weighs over 6 Tonnes
- Sustainability is at the heart of this installation with a 3kW solar power system on the roof of the King George Square Deck
- 150+ decorations
- 8,640 LED lights bring the tree to life
Being in the busiest location in Brisbane, the project marks another example of well managed work in a live environment.
